Uploading Results
Step 1
Navigate to your Meets menu, and click the Results tab.
There you will find a button to ADD RESULTS, click this to begin uploading your results file.
Step 2
Using either the .cl2 file or .zip file you received from the meet host, upload it by dragging and dropping or clicking to navigate to the file on your device.
You can upload multiple results files at once, or just one. When you have completed uploading file, please click continue.
**For the purposes of this tutorial, we will continue with only one results file.**
Step 3
You will be prompted to map your team by selecting it from the dropdown menu.
- If you select your team, Commit will work to match swimmers times from your roster and the file as well as work to update your roster based on your next selections. You will also have those selected swimmers and their times added to your teams performance history when viewing results and team times.
- If you DO NOT select your team, Commit will match any swimmers with their times in the results file - but it will do nothing to actively update your roster, nor will any uploaded times be associated with your team (within our database)
When you have finished your selection for team mapping, please click CONFIRM MAPPING
Step 4
You will now be prompted to confirm your swimmers.
There are three menus to check:
- ACTIVE ROSTER
- This will be swimmers that were marked as swimming for your team in the results file and are on your Active Roster within Commit. Please confirm all swimmers are correct.
- INACTIVE ROSTER
- This will be any swimmers that showed as swimming for your team in the results file, but are currently listed on your inactive roster. Please review this list.
- If the meet was completed in the last 6 months, Commit will move the inactive swimmer to your active roster after it is uploaded. Please be sure to move them back to your inactive roster is needed.
- If the meet is over 6 months old, Commit will keep the swimmer on your inactive list but still link their time to the swimmer profile and to your team's historical times.
- This will be any swimmers that showed as swimming for your team in the results file, but are currently listed on your inactive roster. Please review this list.
- CLAIM OTHERS
- This will be a list of ALL other swimmers the results files, for all other teams as well. If you don't see a swimmer for your club listed in the ACTIVE or INACTIVE list - find them here.
- Anyone you select here will be added to your Active Roster in Commit after the file is uploaded.
Once you are done, checking all the menus click CONFIRM SWIMMERS and you'll be prompted to finish uploading your Results.
Please give the system time to upload these files. It can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour depending on how many results you are uploading at once.
You will receive a confirmation email when they are done.
FAQ
- Who can upload results files?
- Only staff members that are added to your club in Commit, with proper access, can add files.
- Parents and Athletes cannot add results times.
- How many results files can I upload at once?
- As many as you have!
- The more you have, the longer the process can take (but it's still relatively fast and easy)
- Can I upload results files without the meet results file?
- No. The only current way to upload results files is with the .cl2 or .zip file that is provided from HyTek and/or the meet host.
- Can I upload my times from another platform?
- No. We currently do not offer any way to import your team's history, your swimmer's times, or any other results data from any other software.
- Will USAS sync swimmer's times with my club?
- No. The connection with USA Swimming is to monitor and manage registration status only - no times will be imported from USAS.
- Can I manually add results times?
- Currently, no. The only manual options that exist are:
- You can only manually update a swimmer's BEST TIME.
- This will not store in the swimmer's historical records once the best time has been overwritten by a faster uploaded time or another manually entered time.
- Proof of Time will need to be provided elsewhere if required.
- Edit previously uploaded times.
- This will overwrite the time that was uploaded in the results file and will store it historically for the swimmer.
- Manually enter a time for meet entry.
- This does not store times in a swimmer's history.
- Proof of Time will need to be provided elsewhere if required.
- You can only manually update a swimmer's BEST TIME.
- Currently, no. The only manual options that exist are:
- Can I navigate away from the page when the files finally begin processing?
- Yes, if necessary. We recommend leaving the tab open or minimizing the window to monitor the status- but once the file begins processing, it is technically uploaded into our system and no requirement is needed for you to remain on the page.
- What is my times are wrong or I notice issues with the file?
- Please contact us at Team@commitswimming.com to help with any questions or issues you might have.
Changes to Results upload
When a user uploads a results file to Commit, there is an additional step called “Confirm Swimmers”. In this step, the user can now confirm which swimmers in the file represent their team.
Why did we build it?
Previously the user could control this with less granularity by selecting a team code from the file. This caused problems in a few use cases:
- Multi-site clubs often have the same team code but operate independently for the majority of their meets. These clubs using Commit would get top time reports flooded with the other sites’ rosters.
- When a swimmer on Team A swims in a meet for a different team (zone team, high school team, unattached) but Team A wants to get this swimmer’s time into Commit, they would have to upload the file and select no team in the file. This would attach the meet result to that swimmer, but would fail to attribute the results to the team itself in Commit.
The additional “confirm swimmers” step solves both problem #1 and problem #2. In this step, we show to the user all the swimmers in the file(s) and which ones we “think” are theirs. The user can override our guess in any way they see fit. In addition, related to problem #1, we give the user the flexibility to select a team in the file based not only on team code, but on location of the team as well.
