Updating Domain Settings on Google
- Go to domains.google
- Log in with the account user (If signing in for the user, will need to coordinate for security code / MFA)
- Go to My Domains:
- Click MANAGE on the domain for which you are updating:
- Select DNS from the menu options
- Click “Manage Custom Records”
- Click “Create New Record”
For A record:
- Host Name: (leave this empty)
- Type: A
- TTL: 3600
- Data: Use the IP address provided from the Netlify record (ex. 75.2.60.5)
For CNAME record:
- Host Name: www
- Type: CNAME
- TTL: 3600
- Data: Use the ID code/string provided from Netlify (ex. 2rmez3s7kydtndqw8southtexasswimassociation01222023140186.netlify.app.)
- Click SAVE - This may prompt you about conflicting records, choose the option to remove/replace other records if this happens.
*Once these records are updated. It can just 24-48 hours for all webservers, globally, to update these records.
**And it can take search engines a couple of weeks before search results return your new site.
