Updating Domain Settings on GoDaddy
- Go to GoDaddy.com
- Log in with the account user (If signing in for the user, will need to coordinate for security code / MFA)
- Go to My Products:
- Click DNS on the domain for which you are updating:
- From here, look at the DNS RECORDS menu
- Either find a record to update or add a new record.
When adding a new record (you can update the TTL - but the default is 1 HR)
For A record:
- Type: A
- Name: @
- Value: Use the IP address provided from the Netlify record (ex. 75.2.60.5)
- TTL: 1 HR
For CNAME record:
- Type: CNAME
- Name: www
- Value: Use the ID code/string provided from Netlify (ex. 2rmez3s7kydtndqw8southtexasswimassociation01222023140186.netlify.app.)
- TTL: 1 HR
If conflicting A records exist (with specific IP address info) this may need to be removed, but we can confirm when checking site status.
- Click SAVE.
UPDATE NAMESERVERS
- Follow all the same steps from above to get to your DNS settings.
- Switch to the NAMESERVERS menu:
- Click CHANGE NAMESERVERS
- This will prompt you to:
- USE THE DEFAULT NAMESERVERS (this is okay to keep)
- USE YOUR OWN (this is where you'll need to input the nameservers provided by Commit's team)
- This will prompt you to:
- Click SAVE after making changes.
*Once these records are updated. It can just 24-48 hours for all webservers, globally, to update these records.
**And it can take search engines a couple of weeks before search results return your new site.
***Both of these factors are out of our control to update - so please be aware of this!
