Sign up for volunteer jobs

Last updated 2026-10-05
Parents · Jobs Grab a job slot from your dashboard or the meet itself, and keep track of your family's credits and obligation.

Step by step

  1. Log in. Your dashboard’s Upcoming Events lists meets, team events and job events together. A meet with volunteer jobs carries a volunteer line: Volunteers needed · Sign up, Volunteer signups open Oct 3, or ✓ 2 volunteer signups once you’re in. Your obligation progress is on the Volunteer Obligations card.

  2. Filter with the Meets, Events and Jobs pills, or turn on Needs my action to see only meets with no reply, RSVPs you owe and job events with open slots and nothing from your family.

  3. Expand the row for the quick signup: up to five open slots with their credits, each with a Sign up button, plus View all open slots for the full event.

  4. Or click Jobs in the left menu. Job Events lists every event with Upcoming / Past, Signed up / Not signed up, and Counts toward filters for your obligation. Open an event: the linked meet, your swimmers’ answers, the signup deadline, documents and links sit at the top, then the grid of jobs and time slots. Each cell shows the credits, how many spots are open and who has them.

  5. Click Sign up on a slot. The sheet asks Who is taking this slot? and lists your family, including the other parent. If your team allows it, there’s also Someone else (grandparent, friend): type their name and your family earns the credit. Some events require a phone number so the meet director can reach you; it’s prefilled from your profile.

  6. Need out? Your own signups show with a ✕. Click it to remove the signup any time before signups close. If the event reads Signups can’t be changed once made, contact your team instead. To switch slots, remove and sign up for the new one.

  7. My Credits has your family’s history: every signup, who worked it, any Club credit the team added for work outside Commit, and an export for an employer’s volunteer program.

Common questions

What happens if we don’t meet the obligation? Depends on your club. Some only track it; some bill a fee for missed credits. Your Jobs page shows the fee your team set, if any, right on the progress bar.

Can grandma take a shift? If your team turned write-ins on, yes. Pick Someone else (grandparent, friend) when you sign up and your family earns the credit. If you don’t see that option, ask a coach to add her.

When do we earn the credits? The moment you sign up. If you can’t make it after all, remove the signup so the team can refill the slot.

It says I’ve hit a limit. Teams can cap signups per person, per family and per time slot, and some don’t allow two jobs in the same time slot. The message tells you which rule applied; ask your coach if you need an exception.

A slot I want is full. Watch for changes, or ask the coach; they can raise the slot count or move signups around.

I can’t see who else signed up. Your club turned on signup privacy, so you see only your own family’s signups and the open counts.

Which events count toward our requirement? On your Jobs page, use the Counts toward filter. It shows exactly which upcoming events close your gap.

What is a Club credit? Credits your team added for volunteer work outside a job signup: a committee role, hours from your old system, or a make-good. They count toward your obligation like any signup.
