Swims 3.0 - FAQ

FAQ #1

Q: Will Commit automatically update my swimmers times, or import them for me?

A: No. USA Swimming does not have an API for software vendors like Commit Swimming, TeamUnify, or Active to pull times data from for many good reasons. No team management software (including TeamUnify) has access to SWIMS Times. This is a common misconception about other software vendors.

FAQ #2

Q: Can I have my members easily register and manage their swimmers in USA Swimming?

A: Yes, you can have new members easily register with USA Swimming by including it as a prompt during your club's registration. Additionally, they will be able to quickly see their registration status and manage it as well directly from their dashboard, in the SWIMS 3.0 widget.

FAQ #3

Q: Can I manage my members' registration by submitting it in bulk?

A: Yes, you can do this! You will be able to quickly build USA Swimming registration lists and submit them - both for renewal and new registrants. (Though we recommend having new registrants do this themselves, and you manage only renewals in bulk)

FAQ #4

Q: How do athletes transfer into my team?

A: As they transfer, as long as they get connected to your club via their regular USAS profile - you will be able to see and sync them with SWIMS 3.0

FAQ #5

Q: Why am I getting an error message that my SWIMS 3.0 isn't connected?

A: If this is happening, please ensure your Club name, Club code, and LSC code are correct. Additionally be sure to check you have properly added Commit as a vendor to your club's USAS account. If you continue to have issues, please contact us at Team@commitswimming.com for additional help.

FAQ #6

Q: How long does it take for the database to update?

A: The information that comes from the API with USA Swimming's database should refresh automatically every 24 hours - but your SWIMS 3.0 widget on your dashboard provides a button to refresh immediately.

FAQ #6

Q: I have swimmers showing they are NOT in Commit, but they are on my Roster - how do I connect their registration?

A: If a swimmer is on your active roster, but showing as NOT in Commit - please be sure that they name, gender, and birthdate all are correct. If any of this information does not match 100%, USAS will not recognize the swimmer. However, you may be able to click ADD swimmer and it will automatically link the profile and the USAS registration for you. If you have issues, please contact Team@commitswimming.com

FAQ #7

Q: I have added my swimmer to link their registration, but now I have two profiles. What do I do?

A: This is happening because the original profile for your swimmer and the data from USAS do not match. You may merge these profiles into one - but be sure to select the profile that is registered with USAS, as it will be the one with the correct corresponding data for their registration.

FAQ #8

Q: I have a swimmer transferring over to my club, how do I handle their registration?

A: If the swimmer is not USAS registered, you can handle this like any new registration. If they are up for renewal, you can include them in your next batch of renewals (if you are doing bulk) or have them renew once their transfer is complete themselves (if having individuals manage their registrations)

If the member transfers with their renewal already good into the next year, you will not need to do anything until the next year's registration renewal is due! (Just be sure they transfer over to your team properly before then in USAS)
