What you’ll need
Commit uses Stripe to process payments. Every charge goes straight to your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays out to your bank. To finish onboarding, have ready:
- Your organization’s legal name and EIN (or SSN for sole proprietors)
- The name, birth date, and contact details of a representative
- The bank account for payouts (routing and account numbers)
Step by step
- Click Payments in the left menu. If your team isn’t connected, you’ll see the setup page. Click Set up Payments.
- Complete Stripe’s onboarding form. It’s Stripe’s own secure flow; Commit never sees your banking details.
- After you submit, Stripe reviews the account. Until the review clears, the Payments section stays locked and shows the setup page. This usually resolves within a business day. If Stripe needs more information it will email the representative directly.
- Once approved, Payments unlocks with your Customers, Invoices, Programs, Coupons, and One-off payments tabs. You’re ready to set up billing accounts and create invoices.
Stripe setup is a web task. Connect your account from team.commitswimming.com in a browser. Once connected, the Commit app’s More → Payments section works for day-to-day billing.
After you’re connected
- Payouts: Stripe deposits collected payments to your bank on a rolling schedule. Click View Stripe Dashboard (on the payments settings page) to see your balance and payouts on Stripe. For a spreadsheet-friendly history, Reports → Financial → Detailed Invoice Breakdown generates a report with Invoices and Payouts tabs you can export.
- Bank payments (ACH): on automatically alongside cards for your country; there’s no switch to flip. Bank transfers carry lower processing fees than cards. A family’s new bank account may need a quick verification (Stripe sends a small deposit with a 6-digit code); their payment completes on its own once verified, and you can enter the verification for them with Verify on their customer page.
- Processing fees: absorb them or pass them on to families with Pass on processing fees under Settings → Team (it can also be set per customer).
- Multiple teams: if your organization runs more than one team on Commit, each connects its own Stripe account under its own subscription. You can even route categories (meet fees, registrations, one-off payments) to different Stripe accounts.
Common questions
Why is my Payments tab locked? Either the team hasn’t connected Stripe, or Stripe’s review of the new account hasn’t cleared. Finish the setup flow, then give the review up to a business day.
Can I change the payout bank account later? Yes, through Settings → Integrations → Payment Processing, which opens your Stripe account settings.
