Payment categories

For Coaches

Every charge in Commit now carries a payment category, like Practice fees or Meet entry fees. You can add your own too, like “Team apparel”. Manual invoices also take up to 10 line items, and each line gets its own category.

Why it matters

  • Your treasurer can see how much came in for practice, meets, clinics or gear, without a spreadsheet.
  • The financial report adds up your money by category, so the totals line up with the accounts you already keep.
  • Most places you charge from remember the last category your team picked, so you rarely set it twice.

Good to know

  • Manage the list under Settings → Advanced → Payment categories, on the web or in the Commit app. Only staff with the Finances permission set to Edit can add, rename or archive categories.
  • You pick a category wherever you set a price: invoice lines, pending items, one-off payments, obligation shortfall fees, meet fees and program fees.
  • Archiving one of your categories takes it out of the pickers but keeps every charge already filed under it. Built-in categories can’t be renamed or archived.
