Step by step
- Open Training → Workouts and click the practice.
- Click Attendance. You’ll see the swimmers in that workout’s subgroups. Everyone starts marked present when the workout is created, so you only touch the missing.
- Uncheck a swimmer and pick Missed or Excused. Missed counts against their attendance rate; Excused doesn’t count at all (sick, family trip, not their practice). Mark All Present and Mark All Absent handle the extremes, and it all saves as you tap.
- A swimmer from another group visiting practice? Click Show all groups at the bottom and check them in from their own group’s list. You can also move a swimmer to a different subgroup for just this session from their row.
- For the season picture, open Reports → Attendance: flip between Athletes and Workouts views, filter by group, subgroup, and dates, and export a PDF or spreadsheet. Each swimmer’s profile has an Attendance tab too, with a Show Excused toggle.
Most coaches take attendance in the Commit Swimming - Workout app, right on deck. Open the day’s workout, tap Attendance, and check swimmers off as they walk in. It’s the same data as the web, synced live.
Common questions
A swimmer isn’t on the attendance list. They’re not in that workout’s training group. Fix their group on the roster and they’ll appear.
Can parents see attendance? Only if you allow it under Control what parents see.
Can I take attendance without writing a workout? Attendance hangs off a workout, so create a quick one for the session even if it’s just a title.
How do makeups work? There’s no separate makeup tracking. The pattern coaches use: mark the missed practice Excused, and when the swimmer makes it up at another group’s practice, check them in there with Show all groups.
Missed or Excused? Missed hurts the percentage; Excused removes the practice from their math entirely. If you want a clean “who skips practice” number, be consistent about which one you pick.
